‘Following many conversations, my long-time former colleague Pat O’Connor had provided me an opportunity to join him in building EBRO Australia’s future. A subsequent trip to Singapore to meet Helmut Hager sealed the agreement,‘ Roger Davia, now Managing Director of EBRO Pacific, recalls the early days. Roger and Pat had already been working together for an international valve manufacturer for several years. The possibility of building something from the ground up, the way we thought it possible while delivering on what customers needed was immensely exciting.
Helmut Hager of EBRO Switzerland with his global expansionary vision and desire to continue extending EBRO’s reach around the world resulted in him appointing Pat O’Connor in early 2000 as the MD. Peter Broer, EBRO’s owner provided the backing required to make this venture across the other side of the world possible. Trust was and continues to be at the forefront of each step in building the business into the future.
The EBRO Pacific headquarters in Caringbah
EBRO Pacific started in 2000 with Pat O’Connor closely followed by Roger Davia with two dozen valves and a small office. Today, exactly 25 years later, it has grown into a company with 30 employees at six locations. In addition to the headquarters in Caringbah near Sydney, where a large warehouse is located, EBRO Australia also has a presence in Perth (with a warehouse there too) and offices in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. ‚We are therefore represented locally in all major cities,‘ says Roger Davia. And after the company has also been active in New Zealand for a long time, it will open its own branch there in 2025.

Trust and partnership
One reason for the growth from two to 30 is certainly the trust that customers place in EBRO, which is based not least on the fact that many team members have been with the company for years.
Tony Ager has been with the company since 2005 starting as a project coordinator who took care of a wide range of functions related to EBRO Project business. John Boss has also been with EBRO for 20 years and, now as the National Sales Manager, looks after Sales – and is the contact person for many important customers. With 19 years of service, Vinoo John is almost a newcomer. Thanks to his expertise in the water sector, he is helping to establish EBRO in the market – and his helpful manner quickly creates a good relationship with his customers. Louie Petropoulos, with 17 years under his belt also ensures our products leave the premises in good order and are representative of our quality.
‚Our customers are our top priority and the relationship of trust that has developed over many years of collaboration is the foundation for success on both sides,‘ Roger Davia is convinced.
Individual solutions
With our competent team, EBRO Pacific today supplies customers in a wide range of industries. The spectrum ranges from water and waste water to mining, bulk solids and industrial processes through to steel production and energy supply.
‘We have been particularly successful in the field of desalination plants,’ reports Roger Davia. ‘And we are represented in almost all Australian plants, such as the Victorian Desalination Project, which in 2012 was the largest single project we have ever managed.’ A new project is currently being planned in Perth, Western Australia, in which EBRO is also involved.
Individual, customised solutions are particularly important for such huge projects. EBRO Pacific therefore sees itself not only as a simple sales support centre but also offers consultation, process improvement strategies and provides input to Australian Standards development.
Collaboration with customers starts ‘pre-tender’ with support with drawings, specification development and advice on the right product selection. Roger Davia calls this establishing ‘fit for purpose’ product selection. This also includes the provision of test certificates and CAD data for the valves associated with the proposed supply.
If the offer based on this is successful, EBRO delivers the components to the installation site. But the service does not end there, as Roger Davia explains: ‘For larger projects in particular, we train the customer’s employees so that they can carry out maintenance themselves, for example.’
Reliable quality
The successful completion of projects is also based on the high quality of products and employees. ‘We are open and honest with our customers and always stand behind our product if something doesn’t go according to plan,’ Roger Davia is convinced. ‚And there are only a handful of valve suppliers in Australia who can claim to manufacture valves themselves, as is the case with EBRO and its production facilities in Germany, Sweden and Asia. As part of the internationally successful BRÖER Group with around 1,000 employees at 28 locations worldwide, he is convinced that his company is ideally positioned for the next 25 years.
